Letters to Eloise by Emily Williams #Review #letterstoEloise @EmilyRMWilliams

About the book

‘Receiving a hand written letter is something that always puts a smile on my face, no matter who the sender is.’ Flora Tierney.

When post-graduate student Flora falls unexpectedly pregnant during her final year studies she hits a huge predicament; continue a recent affair with her handsome but mysterious lecturer who dazzles her with love letters taken from the ancient tale of ‘Abelard and Heloise’, or chase after the past with her estranged first love?
But will either man be there to support her during the turmoil ahead?

‘Banish me, therefore, for ever from your heart’, Abelard to Heloise.

Letters to Eloise is the heart wrenching debut epistolary novel by Emily Williams; a love story of misunderstandings, loss, and betrayal but ultimately the incredible bond between mother and child.

My Review

I think the letter style writing that this book takes actually helped to fully immerse me into the story and it felt more of a personal touch. I loved the little bits of information regarding the weeks of pregnancy at the start of Flora's letters they were a sweet touch. Especially as they reminded me of the different stages of my pregnancies.

The beginning of the story managed to capture my attention as to who the person was who found the letters and also about the letters themselves. I thought that the letter format was such an interesting way of telling a story. It really helped you get to know Flora and her deep growing love for her unborn baby. Flora's personality comes out in her letters as she also talks about her daily life, the past and her love for her baby.

The short chapters kept the story moving quickly and actually made the book quite an addictive read as I really became invested in the story and needed to see how it would all end. It is such a sweet story but with a powerful amount of love flowing through it. I have to say that it would be hard not to feel any emotion whilst reading this book as it definitely pulled at my heart strings.

Engaging characters and a beautiful story that had a definite emotional hold over me. There are themes of love, friendship and family that made this book come to life and made Flora feel so real to me. Emily Williams has a lovely descriptive writing style that had me continually turning the pages right to the very emotional end.

A beautiful story of love!

With thanks to Emily Williams for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
