I'm thrilled to be one of the stops on the blog tour for Deep Blue Trouble by Steph Broadribb. You can catch my review today but first of all let's take a look at the description for the book...
Single-mother Florida bounty hunter Lori Anderson’s got an ocean of trouble on her hands. Her daughter Dakota is safe, but her cancer is threatening a comeback, and Lori needs JT—Dakota’s daddy and the man who taught Lori everything—alive and kicking. Problem is, he’s behind bars, and heading for death row. Desperate to save him, Lori does a deal, taking on off-the-books job from shady FBI agent Alex Monroe. Bring back on-the-run felon, Gibson "The Fish" Fletcher, and JT walks free. Following Fletcher from Florida to California, Lori teams up with local bounty hunter Dez McGregor and his team. But Dez works very differently to Lori, and the tension between them threatens to put the whole job in danger. With Monroe pressuring Lori for results, the clock ticking on JT’s life, and nothing about the Fletcher case adding up, Lori’s hitting walls at every turn. But this is one job she’s got to get right, or she’ll lose everything.
After absolutely loving Deep Down Dead I couldn't wait to continue the series with Deep Blue Trouble. This story can be read without reading the first book but I do think it would be easier starting at the beginning that way you get the full picture regarding previous events and you really would be missing out on such a fabulous book. It is so easy to get attached to Lori it felt like catching up with an old friend who is also pretty amazing! Steph Broadribb writes in a way that makes you feel as if you are experiencing everything with Lori. She is strong willed, resilient and a person you definitely want on your side. Lori has so many sides to her personality including the tough work side but also the mum who struggles to do the best by her daughter. The best thing is how realistic and believable she comes across Lori has her flaws but this just makes her all the more likeable for me.
The action in this story is pretty much non stop and will take you on an adventure of a lifetime well probably until the next book comes out at least! It really has a relentless pace that will make your heart beat faster along with devouring the words on the pages as quickly as you can too. I don't want to go into too much detail regarding the plot as it really is worth experiencing this brilliant rollercoaster ride of a story for yourself. However Lori finds herself in quite a situation and has to complete a job or the consequences aren't worth thinking about.
With some brilliant twists this story will pull the reader in all different directions. After reading I felt like taking a breath but I loved the action packed story and the writing ability of Steph Broadribb as she pulls you fully into the story. With pretty much everything fading into the background as you concentrate on the thrilling events taking place.
Deep Blue Trouble is intense from start to finish!
Five stars from me!
With thanks to Anne Cater for the invite to join the tour and Orenda Books for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
